My school uniformĀ involved the horrific combination of navy blue and beige and for many years after I avoided navy blue like the plague. (I still avoid beige, and always will, it does not suit me at all.)
I was drawn to this dress, despite the colour, because it looked warm and comfortable and the short sleeves offered flexibility – I could make it more interesting by wearing different coloured long-sleeved tops underneath. I can also take off the long-sleeved top if I get too warm, and it looks good with long cardigans.
Here I’ve put it on with a grey long-sleeved M&S heatgen top and grey socks from Sock Dreams, which is a pretty easy and obvious colour combination. But I think it would also look good with bright pink and red, and as I look at this picture again I’m considering trying this dress on with a pink long-sleeved top. Lots of people consider navy blue to be a neutral, and I have to agree, as least as far as my colouring is concerned. I can use it that way. People with warmer colouring may find it more difficult.
Since I got this dress I’ve also fallen in love with navy/midnight blue eyeshadow, it really makes my brown eyes pop!
What are your thoughts on ‘neutrals’? Most people would probably also consider beige to be a neutral, but I am not convinced!
